Dr. Vigen V. Abovian specializes in Primary Care, Adult and Geriatric Medicine, Women’s Health, Preventive Medicine, Skin disorders and Musculoskeletal disorders. He emphasizes on providing clear communication and rapport building by scaling patient readiness for change, assessing difficulties and expectations, and determining appropriate goals for effective treatment outcomes, all as a part of solution-focused therapy using evidence based medicine.


Dr. Abovian was born in Yerevan, Armenia, moved to California at the age of 14 and was raised in Glendale. Growing up his hobbies included bicycling, wood carving, making rubic’s cube, building electronic projects, participating in swimming sports, as well as learning the value of hard work, leadership and teamwork to be the dedicated physician he is today.

After graduating from Hoover Herbert High School and completing his premedical education in California, he obtained his medical education at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara Mexico, and New York Medical College Fifth Pathway. He completed his residency training in family medicine at Texas A&M Corpus Christi County Memorial Hospital in 2010, with a transitional year at University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.


Dr. Abovian is the founder of VIDA Family Practice Professional Corporation in 2011, where the entire staff welcomes new patients and accepts most forms of major medical insurances. He is Board Certified by The American Board of Family Medicine and is fluent in Russian, Armenian, English and Spanish. Dr. Abovian is married and has 2 children. He enjoys reading, traveling, mindfulness, and spending time with his family.
